Pilgrims cross  from Italy

This catholic cross was brought by a pilgrim who travelled to Lithuania from Mezzolobardo, a municipality in Trentino, Italy. Pilgrims from different parts of the globe visit the hill of crosses

not just to pay tribute to those who have died during the uprising but also to make their own petitions.

The place has become eerie because of the thousands of crosses left on the hills, some of them standing in good condition while the others seeking support from the other crosses surrounding them. There are more than a hundred thousand crosses, effigies and crucifixes on the hill and the number keeps on increasing as more pilgrims find their way to the hill or crosses.
